Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Writing is mostly a solitary pursuit, but publishing is a whole different beast—and I’m grateful to everyone who’s helped me along the way.
Hard to believe, but the CARTER paperback is finally here! Not many may know this, but it all started on a cold, grey day in April 1984. No, wait — it was July 2023, and it was too hot to write, but I wrote anyway. That’s right, what is now chapter three was the first thing I inked onto the page back then.
“Sam! Stop!”
Samuel stepped into the chamber, and Jackie dove in right after him. With a loud, rumbling thud, a solid slab of rock sealed them inside.
A thousand words later, I had a scene—nothing more, nothing less—and from there it grew into this novella. It was a journey many of you joined me on, and I can’t thank you enough; it truly made all the difference. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
